#Roadtrip : Almost Missed my First Flight

Arrived
at the Husein Sastranegera Airport at 6.30 AM. My plane board at 8.40
AM, so right after I got my boarding pass etc, and enter the lounge, I
took some breakfast.

This
trip to Singapore is actually my first international flight. Tbh, I
really excited about sitting next to the window but it turns out
disapointing because of the window is dirty.

I
arrived at Changi at 11.40 AM and do the immigration thing which took
forever because I felt really nervous. Then after taking my luggage I
took a taxi to get myself to my hotel at Elizabeth st. In my way to the
hotel, the taxi-driver-which-I-forgot-what-his-name-is talk a lot about
Singapore, he said that the traffic getting lighter when it is weekend
or holiday because everyone is leaving the country, he also said that
living there is getting hard and harder everytime because everything
gets more expensive, then he gave me some advice for saving my budget
during the stay. But then with a big smile he talked about his family,
he was really excited when he talk about his first grandchild. After
driving for about 25 minutes, we finally arrived at my hotel. As we
arrived the driver said 'Whoah, this hotel is pretty fancy, must be
expensive lah it's near the Orchard.' This trip costs 19SGD.

In
the afternoon I took lunch at an Indonesian restaurant, in Orchard st.
It's only 5 minutes walking from my hotel. The food here is pretty cheap
(comparing to other place), with less than 10SGD you'll get a big
portion of Nasi Padang with any side dish you want and a drink. This
place is 8.5/10

In
front of where I ate lunch, there's a korean shop. They sell lots of
korean things especially the famous samyang noodle. There's a lot of
noodle variety there if you don't like the samyang, beside noodle they
sell korean spices and my favorite here is the instant tteobokki.

Before
I get back to the hotel, I went to the nearest 7-11 to buy a Singapore
phone credit. I used Star-Hub which costs 15SGD with 15SGD bonus 3SGD
credit, but then it turns out I just use 3SGD during my stay because I
usually use the public wifi or hotel wifi. Btw, please ignore the durex
stacks in the right, honestly I just want to take a photo of the
pre-microwaved meal fridge. If you're in budget, you can go to the
nearest 7-11 because they are everywhere and will give you a lot of
cheap food option. I usually buy some onigiri or sandwich for breakfast
(my hotel doesn't provide breakfast) or snack.

I
used the MRT during my 3 days stay, the nearest station is only 10
minutes walk from my hotel. Beside it's cheap, it also time saving.

This
is one of the MRT station near the Merlion, the Raffles Place station.
One sucks thing about using MRT is sometimes the place you're going to
visit is still few blocks to go.

This
is the first thing you'll see as soon as you get resurfaced from the
Raffles Place station in the morning. But when it's rush hour, this
place is very crowded.

It took a pretty long walk to get to the Merlion from the Raffles Place.

I arrived at noon and the sun strikes so hard, it's so hot out there and unfortunately I didnt have any umbrella or hat. I took only few photos here because it's pretty crowded and I wasnt comfortable with that situation.

I
spent 3 days and 2 nights in Elizabeth st. I stayed in a hotel called
York Hotel, it's located between the Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Quincy
Hotel. I think this hotel is one of the best hotel I've ever visit, yet
the most expensive. Their breakfast service costs 50SGD!

Night
before checking out of the hotel, I went to this mall called Lucky
Plaza, it's about a minute walk from the Padang restaurant I visit on
the first day. There's a lot of cheap stuff here! Chocolate, bags,
watch, perfume, and I guess everything! I recommend to go to this place
to shop for hand gifts when you're on budget. But, if you want to have
some branded stuff, just go to the lower ground floor of the Lucky Plaza
and you'll find an underpass which will bring you to the fancy mall
such Takashimaya or Ion Orchard and it also connected to the Orchard MRT
station. One tip when you're walking in the underpass, watch your step.
It's more than crowded there, especially when you go there at the
evening.

And
finally all the journey has to come to its' end. My last day here was a
blast, I almost missed my flight. I was planning to came early to the
airport and I did. But it turned out I spent too much time to have
breakfast here and forgot that I should buy one thing here, the famous
Garret's popcorn. As I entered the T1 duty free area I found out that
the popcorn stall is in the T2 which will took 15 minutes to get there
and it's 29 minutes left before my plane left me. First, I took the
skytrain at the end of the duty free area, usually you have to wait for
5-10 minutes. Then I ran at the T2 duty free area to get my popcorn.
After that, I shoud take the sky train again and run for about 2 km to
reach my departure gate which located at the end of the T1's departure
area and it's less than 10 mins before the plane departing. Fotunately I
could reach my gate on time.

The
plane was ready to depart as all the seats already occupied, so this is
the end of my short trip to Singapore. I hoped I shouldn't have run all
the way down the terminal to catch my flight next time. And I hoped
that this blog post helps. Cheerio!
